The Rural Circus
All about our life with our 4 boys. Everyday is a circus. I have a son with Sensory Processing Disorder, a hubby who is gone a lot for work, and general everyday chaos usually ensues. This is a place I can vent my frustrations, excitements or complain about things that made me mad.

I am not very good at this blogging stuff. It has been a while since I have been on here. Life gets busy for us. We have expanded our little farm to now include pigs, chickens, goats, bees and rabbits. Taking care of all the animals can be tough but we really enjoy doing it all. Especially when the weather is cooperating. As I write this there is a mini snow storm coming down outside. My 8 year old had enough snow to make a pretty decent sized snowman this morning. Although for Pacific Northwest standards this is nothing;) We made the switch to homeschooling this year. That has been one of the best choices we could have made!! Our sons have gotten to spend a lot of time with Dad before he leaves again which is a wonderful thing. We love being able to teach our sons good morals and values as well as the reading, writing and mathematics. There were some challenging days in the beginning but we have all gotten into a really wonderful routine and it works. We have decided to school year round which at first can sound a little horrible for a child. We plan on taking a week or two off every 6 weeks. And while Dad is deployed we will probably not take many breaks at all so that we can take more time off when he returns.

My First Blog.
I have a few blogs I like to read daily. Some of the things I see in the blogs seems too fake or made up, but most of the time something makes sense to me and I can totally relate. That is all I want to do here on my blog. Just have people relate to the things I might blog about. We have only recently received the diagnosis of Sensory Processing Disorder for our 4 year old son. He is still in the process of being evaluated for Autism as well. Only a handful of close friends and family members even know what is going on right now. You will hear more about that later. I have several blogs I can do on family members alone! I am hoping anything I can put out here on SPD can help another mom or dad who is struggling with this. And I hope someone will give me advice as well. What I have found so far is this: Not many people have a clue about SPD. Unless you are sitting in the waiting room at the Occupational Therapy clinic. I have found a few good ladies to chat with about it but that is usually as far as it goes. My son is not ready for a "playdate" quite yet so I usually don't go the extra mile to get together with them after therapy.
I will chat about my other boys as well. I have seen blogs with original names and the blogs with the fake names for the kids. I am going to choose to keep my sons names private. I will have to get creative and make up some names for them.
Mainly I just wanted a place I could vent about things, laugh(hopefully do this the most), and hopefully learn more and share a lot about Sensory Processing Disorder.
